Video Is King

Our client JM just had one of his best months to date in August, hitting $50k+ in revenue and a 5X return on ad spend! That happened despite all of the challenges from iOS 14 and despite being in a special ad category where his targeting is extremely limited and his cost per lead is volatile. What changed the game for JM that led to this massive success? He finally started incorporating consistent video content into his organic and paid marketing strategies, and they took off!

JM doesn’t have an instagram account, but recently his video content began showing up on Instagram with Facebook’s recent update that allows longer video content (rather than just 15 second videos) to show up in Instagram Story placements. If you weren’t sold on how powerful and critical video content is right now, JM’s results prove it.

You must start creating a process on how to incorporate video content more consistently into your strategy. If you’re not comfortable being on camera, making Instagram Reels, etc., you may need to delegate it to another team member. Post ID Ads VS Dynamic Creative

Back in the day, Post ID ads were all the rage. Then dynamic creative came along and, suddenly, Facebook was promoting and favoring it above all. Our team has highly recommended utilizing dynamic creative, and we still do, but it looks like Post ID ads are making a comeback. Post iOS, we’re seeing that Post ID ads are now out performing dynamic creatives in several client accounts. So if you’re not currently testing these, now is the time to start!

However, we have noticed in some accounts that Post ID ads will work really well for about 2-3 weeks, but then the performance will drop and CPMs will drastically increase.

What we’re doing to combat this with our clients running multiple Post ID Ads is rotating the ads by turning them off when performance begins to drop, and allowing the budget to go to the ads that are still converting well. We recommend having back up ads ready to refresh if your Post IDs start to experience that decrease in performance.

Facebook, Instagram, & Whatsapp are DOWN

If you haven’t tried hopping on the ‘gram or scrolling your Facebook feed today, don’t bother. Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp are ALL down. There’s no need to panic, your ads shouldn’t be spending with the platforms down. Stay calm, carry ON! This is a great reminder that when you have a PROVEN strategy throughout your funnel (and not just with your ads), a momentary (or in this case, several hours long) glitch in the system won’t be your downfall. Today is the perfect opportunity to nurture your audience and create touchpoints with your brand OUTSIDE of social media!

Don’t Be Afraid To Duplicate Winning LAAs

If you have a lookalike audience that is crushing it, don’t be afraid to duplicate that audience to further maximize your results. Typically, Facebook’s audience sizes for LAAs is around 2 million, but you likely won’t be shown to everyone in that audience. Let’s demonstrate with a real Team Hirsh client example.

Recently, one of our clients in the nutrition industry experienced 3-4 days where she had no sales coming in – which never happens for her. In our campaign, we were testing lookalike audiences. One was based on people who had previously registered for her webinar, the other was based on her pixel purchases. Our 1% webinar registrant LAA wasn’t converting well, so we tested out a 2% webinar registrant LAA… to no avail. However, our pixel purchase LAA was performing better. We noticed that the reach for this audience was only about 36,000 (out of a potential 2 million) so we created a duplicate of this audience to further increase our reach. Almost immediately after making these changes, our client got 2 sales!

It is absolutely okay to create a duplicate of what’s working, don’t be afraid to test it!
