All right everybody I have Mica here for an amazing interview that I’m super excited to to chat with her. Um, why don’t we start? Welcome Mica Welcome to the podcast.

Micah Klug

Thank you Emily. I’m happy to be here.

Emily Hirsh

Yeah, I’m excited to have you. Let’s start with um, a recap of you if you could share your business and kind of what you sell and and just a little bit of information so we have that context before we dive in.

Micah Klug

Sure so a little backstory about me I started a mom blog three days after my third child came home from the hospital and I loved creating the content but. The first few years I really struggled with trying to find keywords and trying to build momentum to go from just a hobby to actually bringing in money for my family and while I was trying to navigate being a content creator and a blogger I was helping A lot of different homeschool moms and different business owners run Facebook ads which as you know takes a lot of data and a lot of interpretation and can be fun in its own way and Seeing how those ads were running for them and helping my clients generate over one point five million dollars from their product sales I ended up um, critiquing and breaking down the copy that I wrote for them and started implementing it into my blog posts. Which ultimately led to my story framework that I used and I found that stories really do build that emotional connection in that do sell and it came a point in a crossroads where I could either continue building my mom blog website traffic or I could continue building. That service-based business of the ad revenue site and it was during that time of the apple ios updates and um, the frontier where people just weren’t sure what was going on with Facebook ads. And I realized that my joy and my passion was really in creating content and building that emotional connection. So I ended up working with my clients until they no longer wanted to run ads and then I went headlong into creating content. And I took my mom blog website from 26000 page views per month to over 1 ah 36000 page views and just under a year My domain score went from a 30 it’s now out of 45 and under a year and utilizing Stories and utilizing that emotional connection with your readers and with complete strangers kind of welcoming and welcoming them into your home built this business and allowed me to go from just a hobby to a business and so what I teach is for content creators. How to not only bring traffic to their website and utilize certain keyword strategies because not all keywords are created equal. But how to infuse storytelling and emotional connections into their content writing. So they can build that relationship with strangers online.

Emily Hirsh

Awesome. I Love it. Very cool. Thanks for sharing that? Um, Okay so I would love to know? Um, so you joined Launched Your Funnel Live and you went through that whole six week very intense experience. I think um I would love to know like what you were doing with your marketing. Then I know we had been connected for a while before you joined to launch your funnel live. But what would you say was your biggest struggle, your focus like where was your where is your business at when you’re you know, but right before you joined launch your funnel live.

Micah Klug

Yeah I loved Launch Your Funnel Live. Thank you, it came at the perfect time. I had just finished my last Facebook ad client. I knew exactly what I wanted to do to help other bloggers and content creators and it felt like I had all these different jigsaw puzzle pieces. But I didn’t quite know where to start or how to put them together or how to piece them together and then you came out with this program and it was like okay this is perfect. This is exactly what I need I need to get my brain organized if you will um and put it 1 step at a time and even in week one your offering and position unit that we went through I still have that tab open in my Google chromebook because I don’t and I honestly don’t think I’ll ever close it just because of the deep dive you had us go into and the questions that you asked and everything that we poured into that it was. 1 of the most intense assignments I’ve ever done. But it’s also been one of the most valuable because when I create an email for my new um email list with other bloggers and content creators anytime I create a blog post for them anytime. I create a landing page for them. I go back to that first week page because in there is every little detail and every new thing that we need to know in order to really connect and speak with these people.

Emily Hirsh

Yeah, that’s funny. That’s also a Heather I had on the podcast too who is in and it was like the same feedback around um week one being so valuable which is for everybody listening to messaging right? and it’s nailing the messaging of your ideal customer tying that to your offer and your offer positioning and it’s definitely what most people don’t think they need but they need the most. Yeah um so coming into the program did you have a funnel. Like I’m curious. Did you have a funnel that you had tried ah before or did you have a lead generation funnel or you were working on getting that or kind of where was what was your biggest like goal and focus at that point that you wanted to kind of accomplish in the experience.

Micah Klug

So I was completely brand new. I had nothing created. I went through your program for those six weeks, created what I thought would be really great and launched it and just like with any data. Especially with you running your Facebook ads every time you put something out there in the world. It will tell you a message back if you put something out there for the market and it’s not crickets. It doesn’t mean that they absolutely hate it. It just might not be positioned correctly. It might not be what they need at the time. And so my initial run through I went through and people it was a um, kind of a story intensive where I would help people identify stories to tell and people enjoyed that and liked the idea of it but they didn’t see any value or benefit from it and um, getting that feedback from them I understood why it’s. You don’t sit there and think what kind of stories can I tell today? What you know is what I can share with my audience that will build that connection. It’s more of while you’re creating content and while you’re in the process um of getting your own launches put together that you start thinking about those emotional connection points. Um, when you create content. It’s not so much content for yourself that you need to create but it’s the content that your people needs the most from you and so getting that initial feedback I was able to go through that your content launch your funnel live again and really repurpose and reformat Was able to create a free community which we are bringing in content creators every day for and we’re able to do story and training. We’re able to talk about how to infuse stories into their content. For example, anyone can write a blog post about the best toys for 3 three -year-olds but a mom is in such a beautiful position where she can tell what toys she loved for her three year olds because they didn’t make a lot of noise and she didn’t need to run for any headache or aspirin medicine. She can tell you about the toys that Blue water all over her kitchen floors that she had to spend the next couple hours cleaning up because a system broke and just having those little nuances and those little tiny details builds that trust and so going through launch your funnel live getting that data back from. The Mark and from my own audience I was able to then go back and deep dive into what exactly they needed the most.

Emily Hirsh

I love that. Yeah, so a lot of messaging work. So before you came and launched your funnel live you had tested some of that messaging or you tested it during the experience and then you tested it again.

Micah Klug

So there was a lot of testing with former Facebook ad clients and we were able to utilize stories with their ads from the products that they were selling and we found which stories resonated Best there’s you know, different stories of overcoming. There’s stories of Deliverance. There’s stories of hope and getting that data and then using it on my own platform. 1 of the things that I’ll never do is I’ll never recommend something that I haven’t tried or haven’t proven for myself. And so utilizing on my platform and finding out which works best and then going out and sharing that with other content creators and seeing that multiply and magnify for that for their platforms has been incredible to see those results.

Emily Hirsh

Awesome. I Love that. Um, yeah, so I’m curious. It sounds like a lot of the takeaways for you was kind of messaging realizations and how to position things. But I’m curious um throughout the experience that took you essentially Through From the very beginning to the end of kind of creating a funnel. What were your biggest takeaways from that that maybe you didn’t realize before coming you know into it and going through the exercises that I had you guys go through but kind of the biggest. Pivots or shifts or or realizations you had during the experience and.

Micah Klug

The biggest takeaway is you could have the best product and you could have the answer that your audience wants. But if you’re not speaking their language or building that relationship and building that emotional connection with them. They’re not going to pay attention and. It’s heartbreaking to say but the content you create isn’t meant for just you. It’s meant for your people so you need to speak the same language that they’re using and that’s one of the assignments that you gave is we had to go through and list all the different podcasts, all the different books and all the different places that they hang Out. We Ended up knowing my avatar through your assignments better than any past clients that I’ve known before just because of the not only the outside ah physical deep dive you had us do but also the mental emotional and psychological deep dives that you really had us go into. And to understand their story and where they’re coming from so you know what message they need to hear.

Emily Hirsh

I yeah yeah, um, and that deep dive just for people on the podcast for context is essentially how I start any program like it doesn’t matter if it was my cash Cashapalooza program I did a year ago. It’s an essential right now. It is any program because you can’t. Create a marketing strategy without that deep knowledge of your ideal customer and I can almost guarantee like 90% of business owners think they have that but they don’t so I never actually sell that we’re going to do this and then you guys usually get in the program and I remember 1 um, member was like that was like going to college like that was so much work I stayed up so late doing that. Um because I make you really flesh it out and really do it and then what happens is as we build the strategy. And we create the assets like the emails and the landing page that becomes like you said it’s still open on your computer like that becomes the reference point for everything because it’s the foundation of all that we do and um I really think that probably like 85% marketing issues could be solved with messaging improvement because it’s all about how we communicate to attract how we communicate to get people to take action how we communicate to get people to buy and usually that is the root of it which comes from a lack of that understanding. So I think a lot of Members in the in this experience would say that the messaging you know they learned a lot from that and I remember some of your questions and it was a lot of um, kind of shifting to talk about what people want versus what they need like you were talking a lot about storytelling but then it was taking it a deep. Deeper layer from there and talking about why they want storytelling and like what being able to tell really good stories will actually help them accomplish. Um, yeah so anything else like you know outside of messaging anything else in the experience that um. You know, it made a big impact. What about your strategy like in choosing that kind of custom strategy and that process of taking Okay here’s my ideal customer that I identified and what’s going to be the best funnel to actually create for them and anything there that was a good realization for you or lesson.

Micah Klug

Yes, I loved how you encouraged us to go and actually talk to people that are our ideal client and you had us really talk with them because it again enforces something that I think they might enjoy like the deliverability like a webinar. They might not like they would rather have that coaching experience or that 1 on 1 experience or maybe a course and so like you said it goes back to delivering to them how they want to consume it and in today’s world going from a spectrum of once having heavy courses and bundles to now coaching and community people today really want simplicity. They want to simplify their life. They’re wanting simple methods but still having that big impact in results. I know one of the things that you required us to do was read Alex Hermosey’s book and one of his things that he has coming up is another book launch where he’s going to talk about email marketing and leads and going back to that and bringing in their deliverability with how they want it. Is going to bring about that biggest impact but I did love how you had us go through every single deliverability option that there is and you showed us exactly how to do it. You showed us the benefits of it. But and then being able to take that information and talk to our Target market and our audience and say if this was a course this is what it would be like how do you feel it would go if this was a webinar and walk them through that step by step and really take the words that they use and what experience that they think they would have. And use that for your copy and use that for your landing page and for your email writing and use that to make informed decisions also helps with the business growth as well.

Emily Hirsh

Yeah I love that. Um, what strategy did you end up I Forget what strategy did you end up building out what funnel?

Micah Klug

I Ended up building out the coaching one on one.

Emily Hirsh

And how were you bringing in the leads or did you build that part out or did you focus just on the application.

Micah Klug

So I did. I ended up like I said I ended up redoing everything I ended up writing a case study for how I was able to launch and get my page views up as high as I did in under a year and so and people are still Getting on that list every day I have new subscribers. They absolutely love this second freebie that I’m using to launch people into my high ticket program for that 1 on one coaching and so and I love that data and that information because it really does teach us what the people want. And it teaches us what they need the most and how we can leverage that in our business.

Emily Hirsh

Yeah, awesome. So did you start ads to your funnel after the program too.

Micah Klug

I did ads the first round and I love the data that I got from it and it really helped me make decisions which led me to where I am today and then I’m in the process of launching ads again.

Emily Hirsh

And I love that well that was really fast too that you were able to take Intel and make adjustments. I know that was kind of like the last week of the experience was taking. Okay, you know this is what to look for and this is what’s next and so it sounds like you were able to create a lead generation. Funnel which was your case study that drives people to your high ticket and then even in between that experience which I don’t know how long it’s been two months maybe since we did launch your funnel live. You’ve already made some edits and improvements to it based on the kind of messaging and what you learned? Yeah, um. What was the hardest part of the experience for you? What was like the most challenging thing?

Micah Klug

That is a really great question. I think the hardest part was just picking 1 thing and starting with it. Um, for me I’m an over analyzer and I love data. So I love collecting it and seeing the data and then. Picking 1 thing and going with it and then not giving up after that first stop um, using that as data to then pivot and I had to keep reminding myself that it’s okay to pivot. It’s okay to change things because essentially. You’re creating something better for your audience and so it’s really important to remember not to get stuck and that’s one of the reasons why I absolutely love Launch Your Funnel Live is because every week was a new assignment every week kept pushing us along. And that those last few weeks you stayed open and available and the community was still there to say okay, let’s take a look at the data that you have and let’s make the changes and so having that community support and having that feedback to say okay. This is the first round but let’s make the second you know round 2 even better and so the hardest thing was probably just deciding on something and going with it to get that data and to get that feedback to then start and make something else. Better.

Emily Hirsh

I Yeah yeah and I think that mindset of just like marketing. It never ends and it’s always evolving and shifting and changing and so you’re never really at the finish line is an important kind of Ending I can’t sell people always on that. But it’s like you do launch the funnel and then you get the feedback and for everybody there will be opportunity to improve and make shifts and changes. So I Love that you’ve also stayed with that after the program ended. Yeah. Um, okay, my last question is just if you want to share any advice to somebody who’s in the place you were before Launch Your Funnel Live just any I mean it sounds like you’ve shared some takeaways with us around the importance of like optimization and your messaging. But if I kind of you know, asked you After this experience. What would your advice be through what you learned um to yourself then or to somebody who’s kind of in that place.

Micah Klug

I would say don’t be your worst enemy, get your voice out there and launch something because you really never know the impact that you will make until you take that first sleep of faith. And sometimes we really don’t know the impact that we make, sometimes that’s not meant for us. Sometimes we don’t know that the Instagram post we put up was um, an encouraging and encouraging message to someone else on the other end oftentimes our audience. Doesn’t provide us with the feedback that we want to hear we don’t get you know the celebrations the pompoms the the party that we feel we often deserve and sometimes that’s not meant for us to get I mean feedback is really good but essentially go beyond yourself and. Serve your people give more than you think you need to give because when you have that generous heart and when you have that generous community. You will build that trust so much faster because people will be welcoming welcomingly surprised. By how much value you are willing to give and that not only builds trust in them with you but that also builds that legacy business where people will see you as an authority and will come to you with their questions. And as soon as someone asks that question you are now getting feedback from your market and that is such valuable information that will continue to help you grow your business.

Emily Hirsh

So I love that Thank you? Well thank you so much for your time and where could everybody find you if they want to come and learn more about your business and what you do.

Micah Klug

Yeah, people are more than welcome to find me on my website Micah Klug Dot Com they can grab the free case study that we talked about or I’m also on Instagram at the Mica Klug

Emily Hirsh

Cool. Awesome! Well thank you I am so excited to see what you continue to do and I was so happy you were a part of Launch Your Funnel Live. Thanks for sharing your experience today.

Micah Klug

Thank you Emily and thank you for creating that amazing program.

Emily Hirsh

Thank you.
